A GRAND AVENUE CHRISTMAS
November 20, 2009 - January 10, 2010

The Captain Frederick Pabst Mansion known for its nationally recognized holiday displays is proud to present A Grand Avenue Christmas. Each year's magnificent décor attracts thousands and thousands of visitors, and this season will be no exception.  Featuring over a dozen of the Mansion's rooms elegantly transformed by local designers, businesses and residents with a flair for talent and a love for decorating. The Pabst Mansion's A Grand Avenue Christmas has something for everyone with stunning decorations, engaging Milwaukee history, and events and activities for all ages.

On special display, courtesy of Kalmbach Publishing Company, will be an array of Lionel trains from the collection of Jack Sommerfeld.  Spanning decades in time, the display will also incorporate original advertising and boxes dating from the late 19th century until the mid 20th century.  Of special note is the pink train car created by Lionel specifically marketed for girls.  Thanks to the generosity of Mr. Sommerfeld, guests this holiday season will also be able to see one of the Lionel trains in motion.  The Pabst Mansion's Music Room, which originally played host to the family's holiday celebrations, will feature a special train circling the Christmas tree for the duration of the display.  A holiday treat for all!
