Wisconsin Technology Company Wins International Award for Excellence in Web Creativity

Aug 24, 2017
Skyline Technologies, a Wisconsin-based technology consultancy, competed with over 2,000 entries from the United States and many other countries to win a Gold in the dotCOMM Awards 2017 competition for their website redesign of Roehl.Jobs.

Roehl.Jobs is the cornerstone of Roehl Transport’s digital marketing and driver recruiting presence. The goal of the site redesign was to provide a world-class website built upon a foundation of research with a user-first mentality to educate, communicate, and recruit over the road truck drivers. As a result, a mobile-first, responsive web design construct was essential as mobile users accounted for over 65% of the overall site traffic.
“The Roehl/Skyline partnership that has developed has become a catalyst for creative innovation and has enabled Roehl to achieve success where our competitors have not,” said John Paape, CIO of Roehl Transport.
In conjunction with the redesign, Roehl wanted to rebuild the website on a more robust web content management system (WCMS) with the features and flexibility to meet their marketing department’s ongoing requirements.
Using an agile approach, Skyline delivered the website - built upon the Kentico EMS platform - ahead of schedule, only 10 weeks after the completion of the creative design. Overall site traffic increased by over 6% during the first month after the redesign site launched, exceeding initial expectations. By hosting on Azure, Roehl has increased site stability and reduced downtime due to the Azure failover implementation and alert monitoring. (Read the case study.)
“When we launched the Roehl.Jobs project, Skyline was a key contributor in all phases of the implementation,” Paape said. “One of the areas that sets Skyline apart from other firms is their ability and willingness to learn our core business practices and leverage that knowledge through the design and implementation phases.”
dotCOMM Awards is an international competition honoring excellence in web creativity and digital communication. It is administered by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals. Judges are industry professionals who look for companies and individuals whose talent exceeds a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry.

Roehl Transport is one of the 100 largest trucking companies in the nation with customers that include some of the most prestigious brand names in America. With more than 1,900 tractors and 5,200 trailers, the organization is approaching $500 million in annual revenue.
