Skyline is Committed to Protecting Client Data and IP

Skyline takes the protection of our clients’ data and IP seriously.

Not only do we want to do our part in reducing risk, but we also want to help our clients attract customers that value security.

Skyline protects client data and IP entrusted to us for use during service delivery through our High Security Client and Privacy Shield Programs. And we protect the information handled by the solutions we deliver through our Security by Design Program. Each of these programs is explained below.

High Security Client Program

Skyline offers our clients technology, project management, staffing, and solution delivery services. To facilitate delivery, clients often entrust data and IP to us. To protect client data and IP handled during service delivery, in 2013 Skyline developed a High Security Client Program.

As part of this program, Skyline actively reviews each client opportunity before work begins to identify the type of client data and IP to be handled. If the information is determined to be of a confidential nature, Skyline, in collaboration with our client, will conduct a risk assessment and develop a risk mitigation and removal strategy to protect it. The strategy will call out specific security training for all associates that are a part of the client team, put in place technical and organizational measures designed to protect the information, and lay out the following security behaviors that all associates must practice daily:
  • Get your training
  • Know your data
  • Use common sense and safeguards to protect it
  • Be security-aware and report anomalies
  • Ask if unsure

Skyline’s Information Security Office will monitor compliance with security best practices during delivery and will act as a security resource for Skyline associates 24x7x365.

Privacy Shield Program

Clients may also ask Skyline to handle Personally Identifiable Information (PII) or Personal Data during service delivery that is subject to regulations such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in Europe or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) in the US (the CCPA is scheduled to go into effect January 1, 2020). To ensure our clients that Skyline can protect this information, Skyline has decided to voluntarily comply with the U.S. Department of Commerce EU-U.S. and Swiss-U.S. Privacy Shield Frameworks.
What this means to clients is that Skyline has agreed to adhere to 23 principles regarding privacy, has conducted an internal audit to self-certify as to compliance, and has voluntarily agreed to subject itself to penalties by the United States government should it violate these principles.

Security by Design Program

Skyline believes it is important to deliver secure solutions capable or protecting client data that we process, store, and/or transmit. This is the focus of Skyline’s Security by Design Program.
Beginning early in the design process, Skyline collaborates with our client to determine the type of data the solution will handle. Skyline then architects the solution to include a level of security appropriate given the confidentiality of the data. Often this includes building safeguards such as encryption, authentication, and authorization into the solution – and then testing their effectiveness.
